Safey Tips For Cycling At Night

Cycling is so much fun for me!  I ride for pleasure, as a form of exercise, as well as for transportation such as running errands, etc.  Although I ride mostly during the day, sometimes darkness catches me on a long commute/ride.  When that happens, I'm prepared!
Here's how:

Light It Up
Not you, but certainly your bike.  Front, back, sideways, anywhere on your bike. I use clip on blinking LED lights at all times, which makes me more visible to motorists and pedestrians.

Off The Beaten Path
When traffic is busy, try to find side streets that are less congested.  Your ride might take longer, but you'll reduce the risk of an accident.  Also use crosswalks instead of riding through the turn lane.

Be Visible
Make sure your clothing has plenty of reflective details so motorists can see you in traffic.  Also place reflective decals to both sides of your rims, shoes and helmet.

Always follow the local bicycle laws in your state and always wear a helmet.  Happy riding!
