Get Away From It All: Exploring the Hood

It's Saturday, so it must be errand day for me.  Yup, after a week of cranking out a plethora of graphic design projects, plus working in the yard, it was time for a little riding.  So off I went to church for a stations of the cross rehearsal meeting and then to the market.

As I rode through Columbia Tap Trail on my way back from the market, guess what I smelled? Fried chicken, fish and other things wafting in the air.  Could it be?  Would it be?  Yeah buddy, it was TSU Relays time at Texas Southern University.  The 63rd Annual TSU Relays took place March 21 and 22 on the university's campus.  For those who aren't familiar with this event, the TSU Relays attracts every sports enthusiast and track runner from all across the nation and is billed as "where speed happens."

The stands were packed as fans watched more than 2,200 athletes and 187 teams compete, making the
TSU Relays the fifth-largest track and field meet in the nation. It was great to see so many fans cheering on the runners and everyone enjoying themselves and having a good time.  Now back to the food.  No track meet would be complete without it.  There was Frenchy's, Chick-Fil-A and a lot of mom and pop establishments.  I grabbed some waffle fries for the ride home.  They were tasty!  What a great way to spend a Saturday!  Happy trails to ya!
